We seek Welders and Welder-Fitters to join our heavy fabrication and machining team at Valco Manufacturing Inc.

What you’ll get to do

  • Select the welding equipment required and plan a sequence of welding operations
  • Prepare the material and tooling by grinding, carbon arc, scale removal or beveling, before welding to ensure that the correct welding practices are maintained throughout the process
  • Ensure that the correct amount of weld is used based on the customer’s requirements and the best welding practices and standards
  • Inspect the weld site for imperfections or fissures in the weld, using weld gauges and weld defect analysis, and make repairs as required

As a Welder/Fitter (above +)

  • Interpret drawings and weld symbols, inclusive of familiarity with and understanding of GD&T standards
  • Lay out, position, align and secure the details to be welded using measuring and scribing devices, clamps, and tacked welds
  • Shape metal components using arc or flame-cutting equipment to the specified dimensions or to repair damaged metal components
  • “Five Why” root cause analysis on all non-conforming conditions or occurrences

What you bring

  • A completed high school diploma or equivalent
  • Completed Apprentice Program and Certification in the trade by the Province of Ontario would be a bonus
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints, welding symbols, and weld defect identification
  • A proven ability to work well within a team-based work environment, prioritizing plans of action to accomplish objectives

As a Welder/Fitter (above +)

  • Familiar with quality assurance methods and best practices, including GD&T
  • Proven competency and strength in mathematics
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings in both first and third-angle projection
