We are seeking a Supervisor-PLC Programming at our Automation and Assembly division, who is focused on providing world-class technology solutions to our customers, programming customized equipment such as Battery Tray Assembly and Battery Assembly and Test Systems, Leak Test Equipment, Industrial Parts Washers and Material Handling Automation.

As a working supervisor, this position is responsible for both the supervision of PLC programming jobs and personnel (approx. 80% of the time) as well as working directly on jobs as a senior-level programmer (approx. 20% of the time).

What you’ll get to do

Supervision:

  • Work with the PLC programming leader to assign resources to specific projects, and review the scope of work and expectations with the group
  • Oversee the complete project scope from a PLC programming perspective, inclusive of safety, quality, cost and timing
  • Drive jobs to be completed on time and within budget
  • Work with internal and external resources to fulfill manpower requirements for commissioning, installation and service needs
  • Train, foster and grow a healthy working environment within the PLC department

Programming:

  • Perform PLC logic and programming duties using, but not limited to, the following:
    • AB Control Logix controllers
    • Rockwell programming software – RSLogix 5000 and Factory View
    • DNet and Industrial ENet, Profibus, Profinet
    • Winccflex 2007
    • Siemens Step 7
    • Siemens Tia Portal
  • Develop and implement standard engineering practices and provide detailed documentation upon project completion
  • Ensure that controls and logic programs developed are efficient and that they adhere to the standards and needs of the customer and Valiant TMS
  • Introduce programming improvements in controls and logic systems that are consistent with customer changes or manufacturing needs
  • Maintain open lines of communication between all relevant departments for all projects from conception to installation
  • Document controls logic changes made and provides updates to the controls design department

What you bring

  • Completed degree/diploma in Controls, Electrical or Robotics program
  • 5+ years of direct experience in PLC debugging in a machine-build environment
  • The capacity to work independently and collaborate with your team to solve complex issues
  • Ability and willingness to travel to company and customer facilities globally
  • Experience leading both people and projects
  • Solid communication skills
  • A “can do” attitude when approaching challenges
