We are seeking an EV/Battery Test Application Engineer at our Automation and Assembly division who is focused on providing world-class technology solutions to our customers, in areas such as Battery Tray Assembly and Battery Assembly and Test Systems, Leak Test Equipment, Industrial Parts Washers and Material Handling Automation.

What you’ll get to do

  • Act as the technical lead on assigned projects including but not limited to Battery Cell, Battery Module, and Battery Pack electrical testing; EV Motor Stator and Rotor Electrical Test, EV Leak Test
  • Develop test plan, test sequence, and qualification plan, working directly with end customer test engineers
  • Select equipment (hardware and software) required to perform tests in high volume production environment
  • Procure quotes, make purchase recommendations, and manage external suppliers of test equipment, battery cyclers, and related components
  • Develop mechanical connectors and fixtures to interface with customer products to facilitate automated testing
  • Perform lab testing, as required, to validate hardware, software, and test methodology
  • Review and mark up industrial electrical drawings and PLC logic as they pertain to the test plan
  • Program, debug and validate test sequences on equipment and hardware and take responsibility for final qualification
  • Review applications as a complete system, including mechanical, controls, manufacturing, operation and maintenance
  • Develop application standards, best practices, and technical documentation for projects
  • Prepare and perform design of experiments, performance and validation testing for the Engineering Team, including customer requests, design improvements and field-related issues
  • Assist in the processing phase to ensure that all customer requirements and specifications are met in the early stages of a program
  • Follow up through the manufacturing phases to ensure that all challenges are met to prove the function of the intended designs
  • Provide technical support on projects throughout the project lifecycle
  • Travel to the USA and Mexico is highly possible

What you bring

  • A completed university degree in Electrical, Mechatronics or Mechanical Engineering
  • 5+ years post-graduation experience in automated testing or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in automotive manufacturing or equivalent experience
  • Ability to demonstrate understanding of low and high-voltage AC and DC circuits, rectification, and inversion
  • Experience with standard battery cell testing including but not limited to ACIR, OCV, EIS, IR, IV, discharge and charging
  • Experience with electrical measurement equipment, including oscilloscopes, signal generators, memory recorders, and modular test equipment, such as NI, Agilent/Keytsight, Yokogawa, Acromag, Dewesoft, and Hioki
  • Experience with test environment software such as Labview or Matlab/Simulink
  • Experience with software programming languages such as Python, C, C++, etc.
  • Ability to read and interpret industrial electrical and fluid power drawings
  • Experience with sensors, transducers, and measurement systems
  • Working knowledge of industrial controls hardware and software
  • A proven ability to work well within a team-based work environment, prioritizing plans of action to accomplish objectives
  • Excellent team, communication, time management and organizational skills
