We are seeking an Application Engineer at our Automation and Assembly division, who is focused on providing world-class technology solutions to our customers, in areas such as Battery Tray Assembly and Battery Assembly and Test Systems, Leak Test Equipment, Industrial Parts Washers, and Material Handling Automation.

What you’ll get to do

  • Prepare and perform the design of experiments, performance, and validation testing for the Engineering Team, including customer requests, design improvements, and field-related issues that require improvements
  • Engineering testing activities while working on live projects
  • Develop new concepts, including prototype development, performance testing, and final implementations
  • Assist in the processing phase to ensure that all customer requirements and specifications are met in the early stages of a program
  • Follow up through the manufacturing phases to ensure that all challenges are met to prove out the function of the intended designs
  • Troubleshooting at customer facilities when issues arise that need engineering assistance to resolve
  • Travel to USA and Mexico is highly probable
  • Prepare technical calculations, 3D CAD, FEA, and similar as required to support active projects
  • Provide technical support on projects throughout the project lifecycle
  • Review applications as a complete system including mechanical, controls, manufacturing, operation, and maintenance
  • Develop application standards, best practices, and technical documentation for projects

What you bring

  • A completed university program in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent with a strong focus on machine design, prototype development, and testing
  • 5 years of experience in machine design, development, and performance testing of custom products, tools, machines, and assembly systems
  • Experience with FEA (Finite Element Analysis), Strength of Materials, Statics, and Dynamics
  • Knowledge of leak test machine design and instrumentation, pressure decay, differential pressure, and mass airflow
  • Understanding of kinematics, motion and motion profiles, motor/servo sizing, gearbox selection, and sizing, servo presses, control theory, and motion of moving bodies
  • Hands-on experience in machining, welding and assembly, fabrication, testing, and experimentation
  • Familiarity with automation, PLCs, robotics, sensing, and control technologies, vision systems
  • Background in Project Engineering or Project Management is highly desirable
  • A proven ability to work well within a team-based work environment, prioritizing plans of action to accomplish objectives
  • Excellent communication, time management, and organizational skills
