We are seeking an Advance Process – Simulation Engineer at our Automation and Assembly division who is focused on providing world-class technology solutions to our customers and developing engineered solutions for the manufacturing sector for equipment such as Battery Tray Assembly and Battery Assembly and Test Systems, Leak Test Equipment, Industrial Parts Washers, and Material Handling Automation.

What you’ll get to do

  • Develop innovative, cost-effective manufacturing solutions to meet customer needs
  • Perform cycle time analysis on new processes, and perform throughput studies
  • Create process flow charts to give clear direction to the execution team
  • Work with a team of engineering and manufacturing specialists to develop process and process alternatives or verify customer provided processes, based on product information, cycle times, and field checks (if required)
  • Break down proposal content and finalize system layouts, and assist in preparing project feasibility capital and operating costs
  • Create and review project proposals, customer presentations and technical reports, and participate in customer tech reviews
  • Line up internal groups both during the proposal/quoting process, as well as after award of project, and follow up with engineering for lessons learned
  • Develop applications using computer-assisted drafting and manufacturing software and hardware for the control of robots and related manufacturing processes and operations
  • Incorporate robot safety functions into robotic cell designs

What you bring

  • Proven ability to work well within a team-based environment, prioritizing plans of action to accomplish objectives in a high-pressure environment
  • A university degree or college diploma in electrical/mechanical technology
  • 5+ years of direct experience designing or processing automation systems and related tooling
  • Working knowledge of ROBCAD and Process Simulate software; experience should include familiarity with automation that supports various robotic applications, including material handling, deburring, GMAW and resistance welding, metal forming, sealer/glue, and vision
  • Proficient experience in 2D AutoCAD and 3D modeling software
  • Ability and willingness to travel to company and customer facilities globally

Nice to have

  • Familiarity with Electric Vehicle (EV) Drive Unit and Battery Tray manufacturing processes
  • Experience with throughput study software (e.g. Visual Components, Plant Simulate)
