We are seeking a Financial Controller to join our Valco Manufacturing Division, where we provide custom and low-volume production fabrication, machining, metrology, and finishing services to the worlds leading heavy industry companies.  As part of our leadership team, you will assume accountability for the company’s financial plans, policies, accounting practices, maintenance of its fiscal records, and preparation of financial reports

What you’ll get to do

  • Direct, maintain and control the financial accounting activities and prepare financial analysis of the operation, providing the Senior Leadership with accurate and timely financial, costing, and statistical information within established policies and GAAP
  • Develop, analyze and interpret statistical and accounting information in order to appraise project and operating profitability and performance
  • Evaluate the fiscal and operational effectiveness of the company
  • Prepare and develop the annual budget, plans, objectives, and reporting systems
  • Direct and provide leadership, planning, and scheduling of finance and accounting Team Members
  • Ensure that the company’s management information system meets the needs for financial reporting and provides the data required to control the activities of the business
  • Assume direct or delegated accountability for the performance of the following activities:
    • Cash reporting/forecasts
    • Accounts receivable
    • Accounts payable
    • Production systems analysis and reporting
    • Project cost analysis and reporting
    • Cost center costing
    • General ledger
    • Fixed assets
  • Assume accountability for audit review, tax planning, and compliance with all federal, provincial, or state and local government authorities: Income tax, Sales tax, Property tax, Customs duties, etc.

What you bring

  • A bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; an accounting designation preferred (CPA)
  • A minimum of five years combined experience in accounting or finance, ideally in financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis applications
  • Advanced knowledge of Standard Cost Accounting and working knowledge of Production Reporting
  • Advanced knowledge of Project Reporting
  • Advanced knowledge of Material Variance / PPV / related variance analysis practices
  • Advanced knowledge of SAP and Microsoft Office applications
  • Detail-orientated and organized
  • A proven initiative, analytical ability, and decision-making skill to complete projects accurately and on a timely basis
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with high credibility at all levels of the organization
