We are seeking a Controls Design Leader to join our Aerospace Team where we design and build automated aircraft assembly tooling, positioning systems, PDUs (power drive units), and AGV systems.

What you’ll get to do

  • Lead a team of controls designers to analyze proposal product, equipment, customer specifications, and process requirements to conceive and produce a practical controls design within the limitations defined by cost, time, and the availability of equipment or components
  • Provide leadership, mentorship, technical assistance, and training to intermediate and junior controls designers
  • Approve controls designs, both hardware, and software, ensuring that they are compliant with customer specifications and industry standards
  • Provide leadership and decision-making for project-related design/engineering changes, in conjunction with controls engineering manager and other department managers
  • Manage budgets and timing to ensure adherence to plans and report progress
  • Oversee the design release process
  • Provide installation supervision or service of equipment on the customer floor after delivery, ensuring equipment functions to design criteria
  • Provide concepts and proposals to project estimating teams

What you bring

  • Completed post-secondary education in electrical engineering or controls technology
  • Minimum of 8 years of related experience in automated systems with an emphasis on drive systems, coordinated motion control, vision, and automated guidance
  • A demonstrated job-related drive and enthusiasm while being able to analyze the overall effects of decisions under pressure
  • Ability to exercise tact and diplomacy when dealing with customers
  • Exceptional organizational, management, and communication skills
  • Ability and willingness to travel internationally to customer locations
  • A proven ability to work well within a team-based work environment, prioritizing plans of action to accomplish objectives
