We are seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to join our team in Auburn Hills, Michigan where we design, build and integrate body-in-white welding and joining production systems for the automotive and commercial truck sectors. Our flexible body shop automation systems and smart work cells help OEMs and Tier-1 suppliers bring their products to life while adapting to rapidly changing technology and consumer demands

What you’ll get to do

  • Participate in the design review process
  • Understand customer expectations along with project parameters, and communicate them to the build team
  • Develop internal schedules for unit build within the sequential build plan
  • Ensure that all project changes are properly contented and completed by the build team
  • Work with the build team to plan the activities of assigned projects, prioritize tasks and goals related to the project, and ensure the scheduled achievement of project goals through a proactive planning process
  • Work with the build team to plan the labor hours that will be required to complete projects, also tracking the hours spent along with providing the cost to complete build activities
  • Manage and complete the qualification plan and work with the build team to ensure the activities are completed
  • Ensure all quality processes are used by the build team (NCR, 8D’s & Lessons Learned), and assist the manufacturing team in tracking completion of NCR processes, for both internal and external supplier issues
  • Conduct bi-weekly manufacturing status meetings with the build teams, ensuring the job board is up to date
  • Update and document open issues relative to the manufacturing process
  • Ensure that all build check sheets are completed at each milestone of the program
  • Notify the team and management of any red-status issues which may affect program execution and delivery
  • Lead and assist teams in the proper resolution of problems
  • In conjunction with the Project Manager, serve as a liaison with matters that relate to manufacturing or work in progress

What you bring

  • A Bachelor of Applied Science Degree from a recognized University or a Diploma/Associate Degree from a recognized Community College specializing in engineering, manufacturing technology, or quality assurance studies or equivalent and demonstrated work experience
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Experience in Six Sigma principles, lean manufacturing, 8D problem-solving process
  • Experience in the manufacturing/tooling/automation industry
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
  • An ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
  • The ability to work with others in a team environment
