We are seeking a Joining Engineer to join our team in Auburn Hills, Michigan where we design, build and integrate body-in-white welding and joining production systems for the automotive and commercial truck sectors. Our flexible body shop automation systems and smart work cells help OEMs and Tier-1 suppliers bring their products to life while adapting to rapidly changing technology and consumer demands.

What you’ll get to do

  • Develop and lead research projects in advanced technologies to strengthen our position as an integrator of joining projects
  • Provide initial weld engineering support including authoring weld documentation, creating weld schedules, and associated offline programming
  • Communicate with the customer and our Engineering, Project Management, and Manufacturing Management to ensure delivered weld quality of equipment
  • Work with controls engineering to ensure the correct equipment is ordered
  • Coordinate and communicate with customer weld engineer and end use weld engineer to ensure corporate and plant approval of weld systems
  • Set up weld equipment for initial part runs and weld equipment for buy-offs
  • Provide installation support

What you bring

  • A proven ability to work well within a team-based work environment, prioritizing plans of action to accomplish objectives
  • Bachelor of Applied Science or Mechanical Engineering degree or equivalent from a recognized University is preferred or an Associate Degree/Engineering Diploma
  • Three+ years of experience in the construction of welding and assembly equipment and technologies
